We had our 20-week appointment yesterday. For the men readers that may not know, that means you are ½ way thru your pregnancy (40 weeks total) and that is when you have your ultrasound.
It’s so crazy seeing the baby move all over and I can’t feel a thing! I haven’t felt any movement yet but my doctor said I should in the next couple weeks.
Everything looks really good. The baby’s weight is 11 oz., which is right on track for what my due date is. The baby’s heartbeat was 136. Doc said my weight was right on too. It was very tempting to find out what the sex is but we kept to our decision and didn’t find out. Joe still thinks the baby is a girl and I’m still leaning towards that it’s a boy…..we’ll eventually see who’s right.
Joe and I laughed when the Ultrasound tech made the comment that the baby has big feet! Not sure how she can really tell that but Joe does wear size 13 shoe so maybe the baby will have his feet and not take after my little 6½ shoe size.
The baby was lying on its left side so it was hard for the doctor to see all the heart chambers so we will have another ultrasound in a couple months. Nothing alarming or anything to be concerned about, just something he likes to see. So, I think that puts me as the QUEEN of ultrasounds. That will be #5 for this pregnancy.
My doctor informed us that he is going to Guatemala for work on March 8. He goes to a poor country every year for a few weeks to help with women and their deliveries. So I better not be 8 days overdue! He said I’ll for sure have the baby by then. I hope so. A co-worker of mine was due September 5th and she didn’t have her baby until September 14th – 9 days overdue! Everyday we were like, “you’re still here?!”
Next appointment: 24 weeks

Katie - you asked me about the heartbeats for my kids at the 20-week ultrasound. 146 for Owen and 141 for Anna. I think that gives you absolutely NO indication what you are having!
Another ultrasound? Seriously.

When baby #2 comes along and you get a mere 1 ultrasound at 20-weeks you'll be going nuts!
If Dr. Stocker said you won't be overdue by 8-days what he meant is "we'll induce you before I leave on my trip, if it comes to that." I'm sure he won't leave for Guatamala with you pregnant. :-)
I know, I'm so used to having so many ultrasounds, I'm not going to know what to do next time when I have just one!

Oh my gosh, you are so cute! I can't wait to see you in person, can't believe we don't have a lunch date on the books yet. You name it, where and when and I'll be there!
The baby is cute too, by the way! I can relate to the big feet comment, just bought Autumn new boots - size 2! She's 3!!! AAAK!
You look great Katie!! The Ultrasound pics are great too! How precious to have photos of the newest Stang family member. I give you credit for being strong and not finding out what you are having. You will have to keep me posted. We need to get a time to hook up somewhere. We usually do it at least once a year and I would love to see you in person pregnant.
