38 Weeks

Our doctor's appointment went great. I gained another 4 lbs.....but does it really matter at this point? Nope, I'll just have another bowl of ice cream tonight. Might as well go out with a bang I say :) Doc didn't mention the heart rate and I forgot to ask -- shoot!
There is progress however! I am dilated to 2 cm and 50% effaced. I've been pretty crampy and having some contractions. This was officially my LAST doctor's appointment. With where I'm at and the doc said my baby is probably already around 7 lbs, he suggested being induced (he said with my size and this being my first baby he didn't want to see me having a large baby). This caught Joe & I off guard a little bit. Not what we were expecting to hear at the appt! But we agreed it is the best option and are so excited. First the doctor asked how would Friday work for inducing. We said sure. Then he called the hospital and they were booked so that's how we landed on Sat. The best part, Sat is the 23rd which was Joe's Dad's birthday. How crazy is that?!! So we think it would be so neat if it works out that way and we have the baby on the 23rd. We go in Sat morning and they will break my water to get labor started.

There is always the chance I go in naturally before the 23rd. My sister seems to think I may go on Thursday the 21st since there will be a full moon :) We'll see.....any day is better than going on the 29th - Leap Day! Aunt Lisa is hoping to share a birthday with the baby and that I go on the 20th :)

Stay tuned for the next post introducing the newest little Stang. I'm sure we'll take only about 500,000 pictures.......

How exciting! One way or the other you'll have a baby in 5-days! I hope it all goes well and is as pain-free as possible!

katie!! so excited to hear is this week! I have to admit I have been religiosuly reading your blog for the last few months and have been following your pregnancy! I hope you go on the 21st (full moon). That is Gabby's birthday, she'll be eight this year! Otherwise, wait one more month to have it so he can be born on Diego's birthday (March 23rd, he'll be one!)
But then, you might end up having a 17 lb. baby! ...which by the way, I know someone that had one of them.
Just wanted to drop a few lines to wish you the best and a million congratulations!

Guess who I am!!
